About This Drive
The Central Coast Crossing is a point-to-point traverse through some of California's most rewarding driving roads and most compelling food and wine regions. Starting in the Ojai Valley, you'll climb Highway 33 — Hagerty's 2024 Road of the Year — through dramatic switchbacks in the Los Padres National Forest, cross the remote Cuyama Valley, and arrive in Paso Robles for an evening of wine tasting and excellent dining. Day two takes you over the Santa Lucia Range on Highway 46 to Cambria's Moonstone Beach, then south along Highway 1 and inland through Los Alamos (home to Michelin-starred Bell's) to the charming tasting rooms of Los Olivos. An optional third day sends you over San Marcos Pass on Highway 154 — one of Southern California's most scenic short drives — into Santa Barbara for lunch and an overnight. This route covers approximately 340 miles of driving across highways that range from tight technical canyons to sweeping coastal vistas, with world-class food and wine at every stop.
