Two new Drive Packs have joined The Stable collection: Margaret River & Caves Road in Western Australia and Banks Peninsula & Akaroa in New Zealand.

They are separate journeys, each made for a slower three-day escape. The roadbook, Rally Point navigation and practical preparation notes sit alongside the route, while stays and stops remain choices to confirm directly for your own dates.

Margaret River & Caves Road

This 82-mile route starts on Geographe Bay in Busselton, moves through Dunsborough and Yallingup, then follows Caves Road south through Margaret River and Mammoth Cave to Augusta. It gives the coast, town and forest corridor their own rhythm over three days.

Dunsborough is the coastal opening to the Margaret River & Caves Road journey.

The route stays on sealed Caves Road and excludes Boranup Drive. Current works can affect the corridor, so check Main Roads WA and Emergency WA before departure, then allow extra time where traffic management is in place.

Banks Peninsula & Akaroa

The 102-mile Banks Peninsula route leaves Christchurch for Little River, Duvauchelle, Takamatua and Akaroa, before returning by the same practical road connection. Its three days make room for the harbour, small settlements and the slower character of the peninsula.

The mapped route follows SH75 and does not substitute Summit Road, Stock Route or Old Coach Road. Check NZTA Journey Planner and the local forecast shortly before travelling, particularly after heavy weather.

Choose the road that fits the trip

Choose Margaret River for a west-coast journey of forest, wine country and an Augusta finish. Choose Banks Peninsula for a South Island drive with an Akaroa harbour base. Each pack is a defined regional itinerary rather than a packaged holiday: accommodation, dining, attraction access and road conditions need your own confirmation.
