Before heading further north, take a detour from Triabunna to catch the passenger ferry to Maria Island National plate. This car-free island is a haven for wildlife, including wombats, kangaroos, and Tasmanian devils. Explore the World Heritage-listed Darlington convict settlement, walk to the spectacular Painted Cliffs with their beautifully patterned sandstone, or hike to the Fossil Cliffs.

Good in towns. Limited in national parks and between towns. The Bay of Fires area has minimal coverage.
Accommodation and popular restaurants, especially in Freycinet and Bicheno, should be booked well in advance, particularly during the summer months (December to February).
A valid pass is required for entry into all of Tasmania's national parks, including Freycinet and Maria Island. Passes can be purchased online or at park visitor centers.
Tasmanian wildlife is most active at dawn and dusk. Drive with extra caution during these times to avoid collisions with wallabies, wombats, and devils.
