The route

This verified 157-mile journey begins in Robbinsville and crosses the full Cherohala Skyway to Tellico Plains. The second day uses the open-road connection through Vonore to Chilhowee Lake, then follows US 129 across the complete Tail of the Dragon to Deals Gap. The final stage returns by Moonshiner 28 through Fontana Dam and Stecoah to Robbinsville.

The route is deliberately focused on the roads named in the Drive Pack. Gatlinburg, Kuwohi and Foothills Parkway are no longer hidden outside the stated mileage. The Dragon carries a 30 mph speed limit and demands strict lane discipline. Check DriveNC and Tennessee SmartWay immediately before departure, use only designated pull-offs, and never stop in the travel lane for a photograph.
