The route

Los Angeles is home to some of the finest canyon driving in America. This Drive Pack brings two separate road stages together without pretending the transfer between them is part of the scenic route. The morning begins with a 53-mile out-and-back from La Canada Flintridge to the Newcomb's Ranch landmark on Angeles Crest Highway. The road climbs through relentless switchbacks and gains more than 5,000 feet.

Newcomb's Ranch is treated as a historic turnaround landmark, not a guaranteed food stop. Confirm SR 2 access with Caltrans and carry water and food. After returning toward Los Angeles, begin the separate Mulholland Highway stage through the Santa Monica Mountains. Decker Road drops to Pacific Coast Highway, followed by a coastal run to Malibu Pier.

The pack covers 101 verified scenic miles. Transfer mileage between the Angeles Crest and Mulholland stages is not included.
